I actually want to volunteer at the SPCA or some other animal shelter. I love animals (as I've said many times) but wouldn't it be cool to basically take care of them, but without making my mom angry by having so many animals at the house. I would like to either work with dogs, or birds (I don't know if they have them). Recently I've wanted a parrot, either a Cockatoo, Quaker or African Grey parrot, mainly because they can talk and have a lot of personality. But one thing that I couldn't do is spend a lot of time with them. As I have school, sports and other family stuff. Parrots need a lot of time in order to be tame and not bite. Parrot bites can hurt a lot!
I also do a lot of other things like; shovel driveways, help out around school, home and with my neighbourhood. I do a few chores around the house and I am interested in starting to help out around town. I am quite busy, so it is hard to add to my schedule.
Things I have done:
1: Shovel driveways many times.
2: Clean up lawns.
3: Babysit.
4: Clean up the house.
5: Build stuff with my dad, etc.
Many hours of help for people. I wish I could do more things but A; I don't have money, B; I can't drive, And C; I am quite young still.
Safety Procedures: Stay safe and smart! If there is a lawnmower running probably don't get in the way. If a table saw is running, don't put your hand close to it. It's mostly common sense. When you are shovelling driveways, probably tell the owner of the house that you are doing it so you don't get run over by them if they leave with their car.
Volunteerism Impact: It is important to volunteer. If you don't do it, you could have no experience with General Labour. Which is an important skill for labour-intensive jobs. Also, some volunteer work involves public speaking, or generally talking to people, which is an important skill for any job. Whether it is working in the oil fields, hospital, etc. Because you have co-workers, which are usually people. (Hopefully)
Future Plans: The transition from Junior High year to High School, can be hard for some people, if you don't know what you're up against. High School is the time where your marks actually matter. Same with Grade 9. To pass in High School is much different than other years. You need good marks and credits. There are many ways to get good grades, but my main focuses are Effort and Participation to get the marks that I want.
